About Drawbridge

Contributions of materials:

It is amazing how much FREE materials, art supplies, paints, resources, etc. art just sitting around waiting to be found if you will only but take the time to do your homework. Ask, seek, knock. This is a very profound principle. Ask for donations or contributions. You can ask smaller local businesses for contributions or donations either materials or monetary. You can also seek corporate sponsorship or donations. Many companies are always looking for an opportunity to be part of the community and/or get their name alongside a noteworthy cause. Knock on doors. You can put out posts, blogs, use facebook, or craigslist to help solicit material donations or funds. Let people know what you are doing. The sooner the better. Everyone has some sort of art project they started but have not finished just laying around. Everyone knows someone who bought to much of the wrong color paint. You can also look for paint in the “bone yards” of distributors/sponsors.

Creating the image/transfer images from sketch to production:

Any or all or all of the following techniques can be used or integrated in a single production piece. Depending on the effect(s), feel or image the artist is communicating you can use: grid techniques, transfer paper, stencils, projector or traditional hand rendering.

How to allocate work to students:

Ask, seek, knock. Ask the students what they are most interested in and listen to their responses. You will find that some students will aggressively take a strong leadership stance,or have specific areas in the project that they would like to work in. You will do well to start out by asking for “Team leaders.” These leaders will be your main contacts who will in turn relay messages and work with their teams of students. Because the skill level of all participants will vary, try to team up those more advanced with the less skilled as to create not only balance but also a strong learning opportunity for social communication skills and help to develop leadership and teamwork.

What is feasible with the working budget:

Anything is possible. We have completed multiple large scale mural projects on a shoestring budget. Your imagination is the limit. Be resourceful and focus on creative ways to use what you DO have. I will send images of mural productions we have completed all with keeping our operating material budget well under $100.00.

What do I offer you:

Help with everything mentioned. Hands on mural application techniques and teaching. 12+ years experience coordinating large art productions. Recommendations and help securing sponsors for materials. Additional materials, resources and supplies provided by or through HartMindSoul/Drawbridge.

What you can do in the meantime:

Prep, plan, coordinate your team(s), get materials together, source materials, make contacts with sponsors, make alliances within the community, fb and cl needs, ask for donations/help, decide on the final images, develop a plan of execution, groom and prep the surface to be painted, check the weather reports, develop a realistic time line and syllabus for the class focusing on integrating concepts learned skills with community outreach through the arts.
